La plaza ha sido, desde su construcción, el corazón de la vida social, política y comercial de Escalona. Con un trazado cuadrangular y porticada en gran parte de su perímetro, responde al modelo típico de las plazas castellanas, que servían como centros neurálgicos para mercados, festividades y reuniones municipales.
Antiguo Ayuntamiento
El edificio que actualmente alberga la Biblioteca Municipal fue construido en el siglo XVIII y en su origen se destinó a la carnicería pública, un lugar esencial en la vida cotidiana de la villa. Su planta es irregular y consta de dos alturas, destacando sus soportales.
Soportales y Columnas del Palacio de Don Álvaro de Luna
Los soportales están cubiertos por un alero sostenido por cinco columnas, procedentes del histórico Palacio de Don Álvaro de Luna. Este detalle arquitectónico dota a la plaza de un valioso componente histórico que vincula el espacio con la figura del célebre Condestable de Castilla.
Descripción de las Columnas:
• Laterales: De doble altura, con basas pequeñas, fustes de sección cuadrada y capiteles decorados con motivos florales.
• Intermedias: De planta baja, con fustes octogonales, capiteles también con ornamentación floral y un escudo frontal que enriquece su valor artístico.
La Plaza Infante Don Juan Manuel ha sido testigo de la evolución histórica de Escalona y sigue siendo un punto de encuentro clave para eventos culturales y la vida cotidiana del municipio.

Located in the center of the walled ancient town of Escalona, this square is a typical example of a genuine Castilian square. With an square and rectangular plan, it is largely portified around its perimeter, maintaining a uniform height at the cornices.
Its formed by:
-Porticoed Houses: An example of traditional Castilian architecture.
-Old town hall: Now the Municipal Library, it was originally the town's public butcher shop. It was built in the 18th century, it has an irregular floor plan and double height, supported by five columns from the old Palace of Don Álvaro de Luna.
-Arcades: Supported by granite and wood columns. These structures are present since the late Middle Ages, reflect the soul of the town and give the space a special personality.

The arcades are covered by sustained eaves by five columns from the historic Palace of Don Álvaro de Luna.

-Lateral Columns: Doubleheight, with small bases, square section shafts, and capitals decorated with floral motifs.
-Intermediate Columns: Ground floor with octagonal shafts, capitals also decorated with floral ornamentation, and a frontal shield with artistic value.
